What would you do if you knew you could not fail?
Welcome back to another edition of the Open Book Blog Hop! If you’re new to the series, the authors included are grateful for your reads and appreciate, even more so, when you share our writings with your friends. If you’re new to the series, welcome aboard. I don’t mind failing. Some of the best lessons have been learned from the failures I’ve faced. I’ve grown as a person, and I’ve improved my skills as an author. Thus, I also have a lot to share with colleagues and those close to me. In a way, I feel that you don’t really fail when you can offer wisdom to others when you don’t get things quite right. There’s a greater breadth of learning to find, too. The land on which you stand afterward is far more solid and fertile.
But, what if you were unstoppable? Whatever you put your mind to would fall into place. If things suddenly turned in my favor from here forward, I certainly do have a list of things I’d like to affect.
First off, I’d love to see equity among people. Yes, in the sense of civil rights. Let’s just flatten that playing field and get these petty -isms out of the way. Humanity doesn’t need it a day more. We’ve already been severely held back because of bigotry.
Second, I’d gather great minds to solve the toughest problems we face: environment, economic, disease, and so on.
On both of those things, I’d be more than happy to remain in the background. I wouldn’t want a bit of attention for having done anything. My reward would be seeing the greater peace humanity enjoys. Certainly, this wouldn’t solve everything. I mean, sociopathology, narcissism, and the like aren’t diseases, so they’ll still be around causing havoc. In the last, equity would temper their output of misery. Ethically, could we do much to deal with them? I’m not sure. And, despite them being the worst, I’m not comfortable taking away their freedom. Who would be next?
The thing I would like to do after this is my writing and film work. I guess under this rule, I’d finally figure out marketing! Maybe I could go back to school, too. All I know is that with the first two things resolved, a lot of us could finally do the things of which we dream, without being held back. I’d even wager there would be a lot more time on our hands.
