♦Welcome to another edition of the Open Book Blog Hop!♦
They’re making an action figure of you. Describe the toy and
accessories. (Do you have a catch phrase? Favorite items, clothes, hair style?)
Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop! The authors included in this ongoing series wish to thank you for your reads. We appreciate, even more so, when you share our writings with your friends. If you’re new to the series, welcome aboard. The authors engage and impress weekly. Prepare to become a regular reader.
First, I’d have to get up from the floor where I fainted. As a collector, to have a figure made of you would probably be the top of the list. I love action figures! I love film and book related figures the most. So many beloved characters have inspired toys over the years, but it never gets old. Would you like to hear about my Lord of the Rings collection?
My favorite action figures are those that the designers really took the time to sculpt in the likeness of those playing them in the film. When they’re from books and not movies or television, there’s not much to go on, so here I like to see how much their ideas of the character jive with my own. It’s always been a lot of fun! My favorite figure is probably my R2D2 that rolls around the floor bleeping and booping his little robotic heart out. This is because I have always wanted one of actual size that could roll around the apartment bring me tea and little things.
In this vein, I’d expect my figure to look like me, but I would gather that the figure being made is actually Captain Maiel. Oh, my god. I’d be over the moon if toy companies were looking to create these figures. The likelihood she’d look like me is nil, however. I would not play her in the film. I’m not an actor. Writing the script and being an information source for the production team is where my work would end. This said, I hope the figure resembles the actress painstakingly found to fill the role. You’ll find me at the head of the line to buy the figure, too. Captain Maiel is super important to me. She is derived from my dream persona and decades of dreams in which I get to fly around and do battle against the forces of darkness.
Where to start? There would likely be a couple incarnations of Maiel. A yellow toga Maiel and an armored Maiel, to start. Then, with the sequels would be the subsequent outfits. I imagine her having her cloak, her weapons, and all the other important attachments when armored or dressed down. Toga Maiel would have long wavy hair, whereas armored Maiel would have a braid/cat-of-nine-tails. I’m not certain how they’d negotiate the helmet and hair issue. Maybe the helmet wouldn’t be removable. Or, they could make the font piece that her hair comes through what holds the braid without the helmet in place.
Maiel would have her shield if armored. She also needs a quiver of arrows and bows. Therefore, knives should be found about her likeness. Then, there is her gladius with a sapphire. Something to denote her moon order affiliation could be interesting, aside from the penannular. As for Toga Maiel, perhaps a pool?
Naturally, the figures would be fully articulated, but I don’t see a need for chopping or any kind of action. Maybe, they would speak some lines if they were larger figures (like my 2 foot tall Legolas). The armaments and such would be parts the figure could easily hold. The bow would have a string you could fling the tiny arrows from.
But, let’s not forget there are must-have non-accessory parts…
Of course, Argus is going to be included. Likely, he would have armor in the one, and then just the penannular in the other. He is Maiel’s constant companion. Argus is rarely ever away from her. How awkward to sell them separately!
The Trailokya series is definitely a series that would see all kinds of collectibles created to augment the customer experience. The depth and breadth of the series would have these residuals running for a long time. And, I will be there to buy them all! I’m serious. I’d probably spend all I earn on selling the rights to get the stuff they make to go with it.
What I really want, however, is a full set of armor and working wings to showcase. That’s gonna cost me! My daughter will be so thrilled to inherit all of this, I am sure (sorry, Lou-Lou).
