March is a special month for me now. For some, they think of shamrocks (shakes and beers) or maybe just the start of spring. Although it used to mark the passing of my doberman back in the 1990s, it now marks the birth of Séamus Fionnagáin Murchadh Shagbottom. Sorry to throw that zinger out there at you, but that’s an honest moment, and I know it’s been a long time, but she was part of my life for 13 years (I was about 9 when she came to my home). This time of year would start a downturn for me, that lead right up to my birthday. Fionn has helped to bring light back to that quarter of the year. My birthday is just whatever. Hey, I’m working on that.

On this vlog, I’m going to introduce you to the new man in my life: Fionn. He’s bringing a lot of joy to days, and I hope he’ll brighten yours, too.

Happy Birthday, Fionn!

It’s time again for another episode of Shagbottom Theater!

March means one thing around the theater: Fionn’s birthday! Count them. That’s three exclamation points in a row. So much shouting. And, it’s all for a great reason. Séamus Fionnagáin Murchadh Shagbottom is a whole year old. This time last year, he was born into the great Irish branch of the Shagbottom Theater family. As one of fifteen puppies, he had a lot of competition to go up against. Every one of his siblings, however, shunned the stage for other dreams, like families of their own, hiking, and tennis balls chasing. Fionn, thus, easily caught the eye of our former director when she vacationed with family on the old Emerald Isle. Without any pups of her own, Sadie was happy to take the whelp under her withers and sign him on for directorship. Let’s celebrate him, but first check out this snippet from behind the scenes that I caught…

Irish Spring?

It’s time again for another episode of Shagbottom Theater!

Séamus Fionnagáin Murchadh Shagbottom will be a year old next month, so be sure to see the theater entry for March, and celebrate with us. He’s only been with us since July (about seven months now), but he’s settled in like he’s been here the whole time. That’s what led to this little kerfuffle backstage at the theater. He’s a brilliant thespian, and a fan of classical literature, but sometimes his wee temper can get the better of him. Fionn is also trying to get on board with Americanisms, and that can make him flustered. I think maybe he misses home a bit.

Uhg. That reminds me. Next month is St. Patrick’s Day. This could get ugly.

In The Blake Cold Winter

It’s time again for another episode of Shagbottom Theater!

January is a bleak month, though it marks the start of a fresh new year. I’ve always found it to be a time of quiet, if not outright boredom. Although February can be utterly bitter, it boasts a warm holiday, and the hope of coming spring at the end of its few days.

In this clip from the latest by Shagbottom Theater, we find
Fionnagáin quoting a dark and dreamy poem by William Blake. Our lad seems to be a fan of the classics! What next?
