Welcome back for another installment of The Blue Honor Vlog. Subscribe to my channel on YouTube. As a subscriber, you’ll get episodes of Shagbottom Theater, updates from the blog, and watch the process of making book trailers. And! You’ll be first in line to see it all. Once a video is ready, it’s uploaded, and you don’t have to wait for it to come out on the blog or even in the newsletter. Let’s get started!
Today’s question is: Will The Lucent Rise be the last of Trailokya?
With the final book of the trilogy, I am sure there will be some concern that all the time invested in these characters and this story will be abandoned instead of seeking to write Trailokya sequels. It’s tempting to walk away. They say, leave while it’s still good, after all. But, what matters is if there are stories still to tell in that universe.
A long time ago, I started out writing high fantasy. It was what I was most into. Yet, I found myself just rehashing a lot of the same old stories already twice told. Don’t get me wrong. There are authors out there who work with the genre that do amazing things. My friend AEM is one of them. Cannot wait to dig into her work! Centaurs!!
When I realized that I did not have a story to tell in these realms, one that felt strong enough to stand with the others, I walked away. I kept the drafts, but focused on historical writing instead. It was in that genre that I grew my craft and studied. There are a number of stories I have planned under historical fiction, including the sequel to OP-DEC.
As many of my readers know, I take my time crafting each work. So, that means you could be waiting a few years for the next part. Although Trailokya was penned consecutively in the draft phase, any further additions would come follow quite some time after. Trailokya sequels would all need continuity checks. The effort would not be easy!
But will I invest that time to create Trailokya Sequels? Do I have any planned? What does it look like? What can readers look forward to, if anything? How about prequels?
You’re going to have to watch the vlog to find out!
