While writing my World War II espionage thriller OP-DEC: Operation Deceit, I didn’t get into the weird. Neither did I bother to explore this fertile ground with the upcoming sequel. These topics would be best left for a book of different temperament. When I say weird, I really mean it. I could see these inventions making it in a steampunk fantasy or a fun and comedic look at the era like 1941. I don’t think my manuscript would quite carry the noir feel I was looking for if I employed any one of these. Then again, Roger Rabbit proved that cartoon hijinks and noir marry up pretty well.
