This is a boon to California’s women! The freedom to take control of her life choices is one that is still not widely granted in the United States. We call ourselves the land of the free, but millions of women are anything but free. Their freedom to plan their families or choose not to have families is constantly dictated by others around them, and backed by laws. In the southern tier of the nation, many women have no health services, treating them as less than human. It’s a human rights violation that the UN is standing up to recognize. Domestic Violence continues to be disregarded as a concern, and, believe it or not, the freedom to use contraception as needed plays into women’s ability to escape these situations.
