The Trailokya Trilogy Companion is a continuing online manuscript that illustrates and explains some of the details of the story, helping readers to keep things straight while they travel through the series. Readers can view this live companion book on Wattpad (either using the website or an app for their phone) absolutely free.
The companion is organized in alphabetical sections for convenience. In each section, the entries are organized like a dictionary along with original artwork and excerpts from the Trailokya Friday blog posts. In the coming weeks and months the blog will feature specific entries, to give you a taste of what is available in the companion.

Imps.
Negative energy that forms a seemingly sentient being. See also Gremlin.

Have you ever walked into someone’s home and felt the presence of their life there? I mean the mood of the place. You know what I’m talking about. Every dwelling, every place, has a—presence. What if it weren’t just a sense of the place, but the sense of something unseen?
In samsara, the energies of thought that most souls have creates an energy that can charge inanimate things, including homes. What are homes but a collection of things in a large box. Since energy cannot be destroyed, it naturally must go somewhere. Like water pools, so too does energy. Those pools, however, unlike water, do not remain in place. Energy is dynamic, and it prefers motion.
Positive energy tends to be warm and light, coating and drifting through spaces. It gives the sense of light even when a location may be pretty dim. People are drawn to it, and the energy is often absorbed by them. In the exchange, more positive energy is given off, because of the experience of joy, love, and the like.
Likewise, negative energy has its attributes, much as you would expect. It is heavy and dark, coating and pooling through spaces. It gives a sense of darkness. It is repellant. This energy can also be absorbed by bio vessels within its presence. Thus, further negative energy is give off: fear, loathing, rage, and the like.

The latter energy is what imps are created from. They’re not atman/souls. They’re a collection of dark energies. These entities tend to have a level of sentience, acting with will and intention. Sometimes, the energy becomes so concentrated and so honed, that it creates a form of marditavya. Once again, it is important to understand that this conglomeration of energies does not have an atman.
Imps can attack and injure targets. They can speak. They can take form. They appear to reason and remember. They can even translate the communication of the bio vessel brain, and read it. That fact alone makes them rather formidable adversaries. However, they are easily dispatched. One touch of a blade forged in Walhall and the energy snaps, dissipating it. (Yes, some of the particles could be picked up by another imp, but there is nothing but energy transferred.)
So, the next time someone suggests they have demons at home, they may in fact be referring to an imp.
