nephilim. (n.) Offspring from the rape or falseness enacted against souls by danava. Considered monsters or giants for their height and cadaverous appearance;distinct red or black eyes; the burned down offspring of The Conflict. Or simply, offspring of danava and fallen souls.
Nephilim have a long history in the lore of cultures that gave rise to the Abrahamic traditions. Various forms have existed throughout mythologies. The key to their creation is the violence of the act. Adultery (or falseness of any particularly sexual act) is not enough to create a nephilim. For example, souls in a relationships with duta, neither fallen, do not produce nephilim from their union. Adultery between humans also does not create nephilim, nor does the act of rape between humans who are not marditavya.
This term defines, essentially, a danava offspring from a soul. In order to create offspring with a soul, danava would have to commit violence: either rape or falseness (misleading the soul, or precipitating their burning down). During the conflict, many nephilim were created. This is what started the war between the two factions. One sect decided humans fit to use as slaves and concubines, while also believing they were not held to ketu or the other laws of Zion. The other sect remained loyal to dharma and the ketu. Research discovered the issue contained in the atman of the individual, and a sign of Burning Down. This meant that the duta was of a dark nature and thus dangerous to the dharma of others.
In order to protect souls and duta alike, danava were sent to Jahannam. But, by this time, much damage had occurred throughout Samsara. Nephilim roamed the worlds, often violent and cruel, abusing the populace. Duta were dispatched to remove the threat. Danava saw this as murder of their children, when in fact they were being sent to Jahannam away from those they were causing harm to, stripping them of their bio-vessels.
Danava were disingenuous regarding the removal of nephilim to Jahannam, as they were the root cause of the violence and had taught their offspring to mistreat the souls they lived among. Those who were not violent were still stripped of their bio-vessels but sent to the wastes of asfodel. From here, they were able to purge the darkness and return to Zion as souls. Some still declined to darkness.
Nephilim are physically imposing beings. They’re much larger than most humans and other dominant soul races. Bipedal humanoids, they resembled their danava parentage but for the absence of their wings. Upon burning down, they retain their forms, but become cadaverous in appearance. Their eyes will become dark or blood red.
Ezrodial is one of the most well-known nephilim. Created on Aghart by his father Belial and the Aghart witch, he was cast into Jahannam for numerous crimes against the Aghartians (multiple rapes, murders, and other violent abuses). He was instrumental in persecuting the royal family as his parents attempted to take over the nations of their world.
Ezrodial is extremely good looking and quite tall. He used these features to lure victims, seemingly trustworthy in outward appearance. His father treats him as a full heir to his principality in the wastes of Jahannam, as most Danava do with their nephilim. They’re precious to the danava as a means to power, and a symbol of their power against souls and duta alike. Nephilim are viewed as extensions of the self by danva, or property.
Lore of the nephilim has evolved over time. Their giant stature has become of unrealistic size (as evidenced by fake skeletons used to mislead populations, or embellish the already horrific tales). Nephilim are often conflated with ardhodita, but this is a mistake of ignorance. Ardhodita is simply the term for individuals born of duta-soul unions. They are not burned down, nor would they be unless a flaw exists in the atman.
An example of ardhodita are the children of Captain Maiel. Although they do not attend the Ordo Priori, they train in human schools, where they make choose to apply to the legions and be recruited if suitable to the requirements. Ardhodita live normal lives, abiding dharma and tend to evolve more quickly than other soul beings, due to the presence of duta energies in their atman.

Nephilim, as stated above, are not inherently evil. However, they face an uphill battle in healing the burning in their atman. It can be done and many have done so. Zion is grateful to get them back, too. When they are able to return, they adhere to dharma as well as any soul or duta in Zion. In addition, they provide a lot of information on the nature of burning, but also the nature of birth to danava and all that entails.

The next stage of evolution is called the Svargaduta (or Svarg for short – pronounced like it looks), they are closely related to the duta, having only one pair of wings. The males tend to be far bulkier in build. Most reach over 8-feet in height, and this is the pinnacle of evolution for most beings. It takes a very long time to reach this apex, and the incarnations beyond take a great deal of sacrifice and skill that doesn’t appeal to most atman. Many of those who have reached beyond this point, express their form in this manner, as it tends to be a preferred state of being. For example, General Mikhael, who is a Seraphim and commander of one of the legions, prefers to appear in his Svarg format. Once duta reach this stage, they tend to be in the higher ranks of the legions or leaders in their particular profession.
Following the above stages, it is time for the duta to relinquish the more physical aspects of life, and explore the mental arena as the Principality. This third incarnation erases them of all differences but those that might determine their gender. They become statuesque, ivory with completely black eyes. They can be quite startling to those unused to their appearance. A meditative race, they are usually only found within the walls of Zion occupying their time in meditative guardianship of Walhall, Mount Zion, and the White City. They also serve in the alder corridors, and assist with overseeing the careful planning of Samsaran and other missions undertaken by any atman. Captain Maiel’s father is a principality. He became one in more recent years of her life, and was risen a Svarg when she was just born. He is a rare atman, achieving higher states fairly quickly.
Dominions are those requiring further introspection and have not quite parted from the physical expression of a body. Because of their extensive introversion, their brains have grown larger, and their skulls are thus elongated. They appear virtually the same with brown skin, and white hair and wings, but the males are bald on their cranium where the females have a short crescent of hair. They also have two sets of wings. Due to their need to expand their mental ability, which has grown just short of that of the virtue, their occupations are guarding the tower within Mount Zion that surrounds Otzar, beyond the White and Red Gates, where the perpetual light enters Zion, and the atman are cast into this world from Nirvana.
Seraphim have three pairs of wings, and appear as a wheel of wings with the face of a human. Risen to this position, once powers, they have learned to balance the physical and the mental and to weight neither as more important than the other, but of equal stature. Thrones, the most thoughtful of the group, continue to make use of introspection to come about their decisions. Not only do they have three sets of wings, but they have four faces: A man, An eagle, A Bull and a Lion. They rarely speak, communicating through thoughts instead, having found them a better means by which to convey their complex ideas. Their surreal appearance is matched only by their giant stature. Lastly, the Cherubim resemble sphinxes. This race has thrown in with mental power over physical, though they manifest themselves in a physical form. That form is reflective of the thrones many faces. Think of a griffin. However, their human like faces are biased toward their former incarnations.
