Every year I hope that voters finally wake up to reality. Year after year, I am disappointed. I’m not sure what goes on inside their heads, they wonder the same thing about those of us who are out here trying to get them to understand. Maybe they’re sociopaths, maybe they’re confused, maybe the Goebbels-esque propaganda machine called Fox News is more successful that we realize. Whatever it is, people are voting against themselves and you can’t tell them without ruffling feathers (cognitive dissonance).
When the announcement came in March 23 that Senator Cruz (R-TX) was running for the office of the president, I gleefully began digging up the treasure trove he’s supplied us since taking that Texan seat. LBJ is rolling in his grave…maybe. This run comes with all the trappings. However, this time, I have a blog to document and share information on the candidates from, instead of being a voice in a million stream on Facebook alone.
The biggest problem that the GOP faces is: The Record. That’s right. The Record. They have a really hard time remembering the things they say. So come January 2016, this economic plan will be on the scrap heap, replaced by something Cruz will try to tell voters he’s been for all along. The points mentioned here will all be readdressed–or should I say dressed up. He’ll put pretty words that aren’t so clear and make voters think he means something else entirely. His snake-oil charm will allow him to slip into voters’ good graces and when they go to the polls, they’ll recognize his name and choose him, because he’s an R and I know that name. They seem to think that, the mere mention of values makes a person someone who has morals, and values the same things they do. They fall prey to gimmicky words in a sales pitch that only seeks to gain them as a number in the moment of voting and then ignore them the minute that moment has past. If your vote is so easily up for sale, then you certainly get what you ask for: cheap return.
“Instead of a federal government that works to undermine our values, imagine a federal government that works to defend the sanctity of human life and uphold the sacrament of marriage,” Cruz said.
Cruz pretends to care about the future of America, about life. Where is the concern for the life of the mother, Ted? She never seems to be considered in the equation, except as some unfortunate and disgust worthy happenstance…an off shoot, incubator. LGBTQ people are equally shuffled off to the wings, ignored or maligned. And once again, this proves that the right wing talking heads are tone deaf–sociopaths bent on control and power, but not leadership.
Here comes that train again…
