Let’s get started!
The Trailokya Trilogy Companion is a continuing online manuscript that illustrates and explains some of the details of the story, helping readers to keep things straight while they travel through the series. Readers can view this live companion book on Wattpad (either using the website or an app for their phone) absolutely free.
The companion is organized in alphabetical sections for convenience. In each section, the entries are organized like a dictionary along with original artwork and excerpts from the Trailokya Friday blog posts. In the coming weeks and months the blog will feature specific entries, to give you a taste of what is available in the companion.
Errai. (n.) The home planet of the bipedal, avian race the Aurai.
The Aurai race are briefly seen in the existing editions of the Trailokya Universe. This population consists of a soul race, with bird-like features. Their culture is a warrior culture, and there are multiple races within the species. This, as it has on Earth, caused disagreement, distrust, and faction throughout the Aurai history. Currently, the Aurai do not cooperate with the UWOS. They are not yet aware of this federation, and because of their history, Zion and the council are wary to bring them an offer.
Errai, is a beautiful planet. The residents, despite their warring, have worked quite hard to maintain it. Their technology is more advanced than that of Humans by about a century. They have enjoyed green energy and responsible living for well over five centuries. Wars, however, continued on their planet until more recently, when they finally agreed that these responses to disagreements were unsustainably-unhealthy for their planet.
What was once resolved in war is now overseen by a representatives from each Aurai nation to a council. This representative is almost always the leader of the nation to be represented. In some cases, a official is chosen by their people to undertake this specific task alone. That, of course can cause lag in responses and drawn out deliberations. Yet, it remains far more productive and effective than the alternative of war. This process, is not without its detractors, so one should not mistake the choice to create a council as some pie-eyed utopia. Although there is no nation who does not take part, there are those among each nation who regard the institution as a limitation to their autonomy and a dangerous threat to Aurai freedom. Needless to say, the bad actors (the greedy and psychopathic) leverage this argument to attempt a return to the old ways, and what they see as power and tradition. Much of their argument is that, although war is destructive, it is their right to respond with such measures if and when they deem such necessary. With each nation now created equal despite the weight they pull, some individuals view the arrangement as taking advantage of the more privileged groups. This branch, however, has been relatively subdued by the success of peace and lack of want.
The Terrain of Errai is very similar to Earth, but the planet is twice as large. The Oceans are mostly underground, creating few large bodies of open water. They are additionally fresh water. Forests dominate this terrain due to care the inhabitants have taken with it. The Climates to be found here are also similar to Earth, but desserts are not as expansive as they are on earth and err toward arid regions like the American Southwest.
The water supply rises above the surface in lakes, rivers and streams. The weather is relatively calm (the usual rain, thunder, snow, etc), but the Aurai are no strangers to terrible storms (tornadoes, Tsunamis, etc.) that still arise from time to time. The planet gives all pretense to being peaceful despite the culture of it’s dominant species. Yet, it can be dangerous due the massive underground water, which creates impressive geysers when mixed with volcanic action. Other dangers include: sinkholes, fires, and quakes.
