The Trailokya Trilogy Companion is a continuing online manuscript that illustrates and explains some of the details of the story, helping readers to keep things straight while they travel through the series. Readers can view this live companion book on Wattpad (either using the website or an app for their phone) absolutely free.
The companion is organized in alphabetical sections for convenience. In each section, the entries are organized like a dictionary along with original artwork and excerpts from the Trailokya Friday blog posts. In the coming weeks and months the blog will feature specific entries, to give you a taste of what is available in the companion.

Vickery, Mrs. (n.) Human woman living on Earth, Samsara. The supervisor of Holly and Rani’s apartment building.
**Spoilers Ahead**
Throughout the text of the trilogy, readers will find many Easter Eggs waiting for them to crack. From names to objects, there are a lot of treats to savor. Readers should keep their eyes peeled, because this multi-layered tale is complex in ways they cannot at first guess. Returning to the books rewards readers with new information they didn’t at first grasp to the depths it is sometimes written.
One of the great treats about the books is the use of spoken Sanskrit. Thanks to the hard work of the SpokenSanskrit team for providing resources to those seeking to unpack one of the most ancient and interesting languages of humanity. This is no easy feat, despite the long existing cultures of India. Time’s passage can often lose details and keys we need to unlock our histories. This team has done an excellent job of putting it all together.
Sanskrit is the world’s oldest language. It deeply connects to the home world of Zion. Not all the duta language is Sanskrit, but Sanskrit contains duta words and words modified from the duta language. Enochian is not the language of angels. That is a Christian idea based off of a single text: the book of Enoch. By the time of Enoch, the Sanskrit had already been well in existence and humans living on Earth for sometime. This is fact.
The actual language of the duta is not entirely known, but many of the words are contained in Sanskrit, as it is the language of Zion, the home world. When Samsara first came into use, this was the easiest transition before the proverbial breaking of babel. This process of splitting cultures and languages was Samsaran-wide and took many years as populations grew and migrated. As I stated above, time causes us to loose things, adapt, change, and forget. Not all cultures, either, wrote their histories down or developed written records in the beginning. This would come latter. Coupled with misremembering or purposely altering the record, we see the divergence occur over time.
But, what does this have to do with Mrs. Vickery? Mrs. Vickery is a minor figure in the history of Holly Greer and her friend Rani. Vickery oversees the building in which the young women rent an apartment with the assistance of Jett. This person is friendly and welcoming, even protective of the women, until the time that Jett alters his agreement to pay part of the rent. This was not at first known to the women, confirming the gut feeling that the find was too good to be true.
Once Holly and her guardians figure out that Jett had set up the living arrangement via nefarious means, the entire picture unravels. The other tenants, who one barely sees or hears from, disappear. The building becomes rundown. And, it becomes evident that this condemned structure in a dead part of town, in the shadow of an old Catholic Church, is the property of shadows. It is because of this that Holly’s ghostly companions disappear. In addition, this is why shadows infiltrate her living space despite the guardians, who get picked off time and again.
How do the danava and marditavya manage to remain undetected? Vickery and the others have inhabited bio-vessels of which they can shed as needed. These forms insulate the signature of the marditavya. The building sets a grimy scene not unexpected in the realm of the city in which Holly and Rani reside, further masking the shades. In New York City, there are many pockets of darkness and many pockets of light, and it becomes difficult to disentangle them.
In order to provide better protection to Holly, the Watchers deploy the UWOS to keep tabs. The church up the street, in fact, houses one their human agents (still very much alive). This is coincidence upon the part Zion and Jahannam, or it is the draw of soulmates (individuals who have deep bonds of friendship and love and continue to be drawn to each other despite differing dharma and distances). Regardless, this coincidence is what ultimately protects Holly and Rani and brings down the plan of the danava.
Vickery is the kingpin of the mob established to corrupt and draw Holly into darkness through fear and abuse. She and her minions weave a web of shadow that poisons the friends between Rani and Holly, and work to steal away any protection the women have. She enables Jett to feed on Holly. This is black op by Jahannam.
The words in Sanskrit that relate to the name Vickery are the Easter Egg in this instance. They mean counsel, dispute, divergence, agitation, thinker, reflection. Vickery is a spy and clandestine operative of the enemy. These words tie into the work she is doing upon the behalf of the shadowalkers. During this time, Holly also undergoes a great deal of reflection and counseling. Whether it is the careful poison of Vickery, or Father Gallo, or even the esoteric store owner, someone is always planting seeds of thought in Holly’s mind. Vickery is a careful agitator, seeming to know what the others on the street who oppose her are up to.
It is of no surprise that when faced by Joel and Zach, Vickery reveals her true self, a complete divergence from the accommodating and friendly woman supervising the building. Unmasked, she is forced to fight for her survival, ultimately losing. Thus, this destroys the illusion she set. However, the thoughts and reflections remain in both Holly and Rani. The poison will take time to extract.
Such Easter Eggs exist throughout the series and readers should be curious and explore the texts for them. They will not be disappointed!
