I stand against the use of fur as fashion. A lot of pro animal product cultivators will then ask, do you wear leather? YUP. I also eat beef (terribly sensitive to it and dairy allergy, but I eat it, and it’s widely consumed by just about all other humans not vegetarian). So why am I against it. 1. the cultivation process. 2. waste. 3. we’re past the need.
The way that fur is cultivated is cruel, if not straight up sadistic. The animals are bred and kept in small cages, much like puppy mills. Then, they’re electrocuted in their cages, so the fur isn’t damaged – ie cut, scored or poked.
On top of this, the animal’s body is wasted as byproduct, usually not sold or used in any manner necessary to warrant its production. Wolves, weasel (ermine), fox and beaver aren’t common table fare. This is not the case in leather goods, which still serve a useful and lasting purpose that isn’t parading in the hairy skin of some deceased critter that is tortured by electric shock. Fur animals are raised only for the skin –their damn skin! Leather goods are byproducts of the meat (food) industry. Leather gloves, belts, harnesses, and shoes (among many other products) are necessary in industry and daily use. Leather shoes are better, healthier for your feet, than plastic (plastic is a waste of oil, which is a carcinogenic pollutant) which doesn’t breathe.
Besides, Fur looks like CRAP on people. Look at these guys pictured below! Not only are they ugly. THEY’RE UGLY. This is conspicuous consumption. This is money flaunting itself. They look like sadistic creeps, quite frankly. Why? Because, Fur is no longer necessary – especially as fashion. Wearing it, supporting the industry, makes you look like a sadistic bloated sack of cash that doesn’t care to know better or be a better person. Unless you’re native, living on the edge…don’t buy fur. Natives don’t usually ‘buy’ fur anyway. Natives trap and kill the animals they need, wasting nothing out of respect for the animals in the process – understanding the circle of the environment and not overindulging for fashion and gluttony. In almost all capacities, the hunt and wearing is part of their cultural history and present and has connotations that western civilization doesn’t have a handle on.
In the end, please! Don’t buy fur, not even a little bit on a collar or cuff. If you’re saying – oh, it’s just a little, I don’t buy it all the time, then you’re one of thousands saying the same thing. If you’re saying – but it will just be wasted, as you said that’s bad – let the current lot of skins be wasted, in order to save the lives of the next lot. Buying it just tells the industry there is a demand. As long as there is demand, there will be production. Buying that little bit adds up. Is it worth it? Not in the least. You don’t need this product for anything but to augment your look, how shallow is that? Buy fake if you need hairy bits on your clothes. Or get better taste.Fur doesn’t make you look good. Trust me. It makes you look out of touch, ignorant and sadistic.
