The Trailokya Trilogy Companion is a continuing online manuscript that illustrates and explains some of the details of the story, helping readers to keep things straight while they travel through the series. The companion is organized in alphabetical sections for convenience. In each section, the entries are organized like a dictionary along with original artwork and excerpts from the Trailokya Friday blog posts. In the coming weeks and months the blog will feature specific entries, to give you a taste of what is available in the companion.
Nirvana. (n.) – The upper most plane in the seven planes. This is where the rulers of Zion hail from. It is an unknown place, except that all atman originate from this place to populate the rest of existence, wherever they may fall. In order to return, an atman must undergo the experiences various existence has to offer.
The originating layer of the Seven Planes, Nirvana is where the creators (Jñanasattva) come from. It equates to the highest level of being and that for which all life yearns, even if they’re set on a darker path. A passage between Nirvana and Zion, called the Perpetual Light, allows free traffic of those rising beyond the veil (barrier), and those returning, or beginning their journey. If there was a ‘God’ this is where he/she would exist, exiting when necessary via the Perpetual Light to interact with the children of Zion. What is there, what it looks like? That’s beyond comprehension of current conventional understanding. Many faiths and philosophies, as well as science fiction tales, have attempted to conjure an image. In the east, it probably looks like a golden and pink cloud filled heaven with happy Buddhas sharing in the glow of radiance all around them. Similarly, the west imagines a cloud-scape with toga wearing white guys bearing some pretty impressive beards. Either way, it’s where the Jñanasattva come from, and from where they’re creating the other layers and influencing events and lives. The King, who visits Metatron in the High Council Chamber on Mount Zion, is one of these entities, and the one charged with governance of the lesser atman (souls/beings/life forces).

Nirvana is most associated with the Buddhist traditions. It is the place reached upon enlightenment. Yet, this plane is not a physical realm, as the word place infers. Or is it? In Western societies, the idea of Nirvana is akin to heaven. Abrahamic traditions attempt to understand it from their own perspective based on their own writings and beliefs. However, this doesn’t truly define what Nirvana is.
In the previously published article, The Seven Planes: A Primer, Nirvana is described as the root of all and the goal of all. All is defined as the atman or lifeforce of all beings. Atman are created within the realm of Nirvana and, depending upon their construction, come to one of the five other planes to complete that construction.
The first beings are called the Jñanasattva. They did not require another world in which to finish their personal designs, but they saw that others did and thus created the other realms to meet those needs. Zion, the next realm down from Nirvana, often sees these beings as their ultimate rulers, if not gods. Zionites (both duta and soul) understand that one day, when they have completed their tasks, they will ascend again to Nirvana to take their place among the Jñanasattva. The danava have turned their backs on this process, believing that they are being unfairly used by the upper realms. Thus, they became dangerous to those trying to follow the path back to Nirvana. The Jñanasattva responded by creating Jahannam, which was staked below Samasara after the conflict, where it could cause less harm to the other realms, and nearer to Oblivion, as those beings are the most likely to be uncreated according to their construction. The Jñanasattva are very much aware of all that goes on within each plane. But they have pledged to adhere to non-interference in the majority of issues. However, the king of Zion, Adonai, is one of these beings. Although he was bestowed with the rule of Zion, it is truly his council of duta who rule over the kingdom. The most powerful among them is a seraph named Metatron.
What little is known about Nirvana does paint a picture similar to Zion heavily mixed with the Astral plane. It is the source of all and the beginning.
