It’s time again for another episode of Shagbottom Theater!

June is a historically cool month full of important dates. Did you know that in 1966, the United States landed the Surveyor 1 on the moon? So, for me, and Fionn as well, this month brings thoughts of space exploration. Is there any more iconic science fiction series about this than Star Trek? No. There isn’t.

Fionn and I share a favorite Captain. I know. You’d think he’d love Kirk, which he does, but not as much as he adores his fellow thespian’s (Sir Patrick Stewart) portrayal of the important Star Trek role: Jean Luc Picard. Fionn thinks the world of Sir Patrick Stewart. The actor is a huge advocate for dog rescue (Fionn is a rescue dog) and also advocates for domestic abuse survivors. These issues are dear to both of us, and we are proud to call Sir Patrick a comrade in this movements. Taking on the role of Fionn Luc filled our furry guy’s heart with joy.

Check out Fionn donning the red uniform as he roles incredible lines from TNG. This outtake was done during rehearsals as Fionn Luc for the stage-sode he will be running through June. Enjoy!

(I think this is going to be a science fiction year for sure!)

Fionn-Luc Picard: Someone once told me that time was a predator that stalked us all our lives. I rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey and reminds us to cherish every moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we’ve lived. After all Number One, we’re only mortal.

Shagbottom’s Guide to the Galaxy

It’s time again for another episode of Shagbottom Theater!

Later this month we have a notable day for science fiction fans across the world. I am sure I don’t have to tell you what it is after reading our title above. If I do, then you certainly don’t know the answer to everything. Perhaps read up on some Vogon poetry to balance yourself out. I know. I know. That’s highly improbable.

Short of dropping a whale on the stage, which Fionn finds rather disconcerting in light of The Boys and their grotesque interludes with water mammals, our intrepid hound would like to stop and give you a behind the scenes peak at his next production running this month. We’ve caught up with him backstage and he has a few words for the fans. Don’t panic when you see his robe and towel state of dress.

Are you a science fiction fan? Fionn is, if you haven’t guessed it by the choices he’s been making lately. He’s having a super year and hopes you’ll keep coming back for more clips. Have any suggestions for our shaggy bottomed friend? Go ahead and leave them in the comments box below. You just might inspire this canine thespian!

Arthur Dent: It must be Thursday. I never got the hang of Thursdays. All my life I’ve had this strange feeling that there’s something big and sinister going on in the world. Well, just wait a sodding minute! You want a question that goes with the answer for 42? Well, how about what’s six times seven? Or how many Vogons does it take to change a lightbulb? Here’s one! How many roads must a man walk down? Fine. Fine, take those questions. Because my head is filled with questions and I can assure you no answer to any one of them has ever brought me one iota of happiness.

Shagbottom Aliens

It’s time again for another episode of Shagbottom Theater!

Sometime has gone by since we featured the other cast members in the blog sneak peeks. This April, the cast will be producing a rich Aliens experience for audience goers. We get an exclusive look at some of the highlights below. But, before you go to the video, think about what films or television shows you’d like to see at the theater. Fionn is curious about what the audience wants to see. Leave your comments below, and we might just add your pick to the list!

Is Alien (1979) one of your favorite films? If not, which of the franchise do you prefer? Who was your favorite character? In this peek, you’ll get to see Pepper Potts the Cat as Ripley, Fionn as Kane, and Tony Stark the Cat as The Alien baby. If you haven’t already got them, I’m not quite sorry to say that tickets are sold out for this unprecedented, scheduled through the end of the month.

Pi Day

It’s time again for another episode of Shagbottom Theater!

Who doesn’t love pie? Oh, wait…it’s Pi, not pie. Pi Day. That’s too bad. I suck at math. Can’t imagine Fionn is much better. Oh, wait…looks like our Theater Star, Fionn, was more prepared than I. Maybe he ought to direct the theater instead? Honestly, he should do some of these introductions, but the ham likes to let others wax about him before he does his thing. He says it puts him in the frame.

Anyway, you all are probably familiar with the 1998 film Pi. Would you see Fionn in the part of Sol? Well that’s the piece he chose. Of course we accommodated him. Supporting roles can be the juiciest. He also liked Mark Margolis’s performance in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Here he is giving a go to Margolis’s character for this year’s Pi Day…

Sol Robeson: Have you met Archimedes? The one with the black spots, you see? You remember Archimedes of Syracuse, eh? The king asks Archimedes to determine if a present he’s received is actually solid gold. Unsolved problem at the time. It tortures the great Greek mathematician for weeks – insomnia haunts him and he twists and turns in his bed for nights on end. Finally, his equally exhausted wife – she’s forced to share a bed with this genius – convinces him to take a bath to relax. While he’s entering the tub, Archimedes notices the bath water rise. Displacement, a way to determine volume, and that’s a way to determine density – weight over volume. And thus, Archimedes solves the problem. He screams “Eureka” and he is so overwhelmed he runs dripping naked through the streets to the king’s palace to report his discovery.

Fionn Solo

It’s time again for another episode of Shagbottom Theater!

This month celebrates love. Is there any greater love story than that between Han Solo and Princess Leia? I can’t think of one. Even though things don’t always go so well for our heroes, we know that their love is lasting and real. And, it was fun. For instance, that exchange in the snowy passage way of the Hoth base.

Empire Strikes Back is my favorite episode of the original Star Wars Trilogy, and probably the whole film cannon. It has AT-AT’s, Tauntauns, epic droids, and romance. Just imagine those sunsets around Bespin! Fionn agrees. Being Fionn Solo is something he’s looked forward to even though he’s not a mushy puppy (lies). He also thought it would be a nice bookend to Sadie’s Leia video.

So, without further ado, here is Fionn rendering the Leia and Han interlude on Hoth–Shagbottom Theater proudly presents, Fionn Solo…
