What historical/public figure would you most like to
learn more about? Would you ever write about them?
Welcome back to another Open Book Blog Hop! The authors included in this ongoing series wish to thank you for your reads. We appreciate, even more so, when you share our writings with your friends. My go to answer is always Nikola Tesla. I am obsessed with him. I won’t even wind up to who it is. That’s how excited I am about him!
Recently, I purchased that hardcover book about him from B&N. I continue to read and watch material about him. Yet, it seems to rehash the same information. Is there nothing more? I’m sure there must be more to him than the images of his giant laboratories and the electricity. However, documentaries just focus here–between Colorado and Down State New York.
Tesla was a Serbian immigrant in the 19th century. He lived well into the 20th century, passing away alone and destitute in New York City. It is a heartbreaking tale of genius stifled. Between Edison and journalists of the day, he continually found his efforts to bring substantial change to our world hampered . Part of the issue: Edison’s enormous ego needed Edison to be the face of all genius in that time. He put his name over many inventor’s work, claiming those advances as his own. Additionally, corporations faced fewer profits if Tesla succeeded. Greed, sadly, is a powerful player in many careers.
I want to learn more about the experiments that Tesla conducted and what specifically they proposed to accomplish. The most familiar of these is the free energy experiments. Most researchers focus their interest here. However, he more obscurely studied space and radio phenomena. Keep in mind that Tesla was around in the time that spirituality and otherworldly doings became of especial interest to the human population in the United States and Europe. If you are familiar, this is the time when spirit boards, séance, and spirit photography were common.
YouTube has multiple videos on Spirit Radio, one of Tesla’s most curious inventions. I encourage you to check it out, no matter what you believe. It’s actually very interesting! I just wish that there was more to dive into on what Tesla himself did on this front. I probably haven’t stumbled across the book or article yet, but am always in search of it.
Tesla’s words are quoted at the start of my Trilogy series. The things I write about in the books were of interest to the scientist, which is why he created the spirit radio in the first place. He was seeking a way to communicate with the other dimension. The quotes reveal a man grounded in science who reflected deeply on the inevitable unknown to which we all travel. It is a curious thing to consider, but I don’t feel it is out of the purview of science to examine these possibilities. After all, if a next life exists, it would likely be a parallel universe. The idea of a multiverse isn’t pseudoscience, either.
Today’s research is reaching into the possibility that our world (Samsara) is nothing more than a simulation. I’ve spent a couple nights listening to an interview with University of California professor, Donald Hoffman. He likens our reality to wearing a headset that allows us to perceive this world as we currently do see it, but that this isn’t reality. The brain is the headset, essentially, using the senses as augmented reality to perceive of things as it believes they should be. It’s deep stuff that I am sure Mr. Tesla would be exploring if he were alive today. He was just starting this theory in his time. However, science was yet insufficient to articulate and define these ideas.
That’s not enough though. I don’t want to simply learn more about Tesla but bring him forward to our time to provide insight to the ideas now discussed in scientific circles. Think about that! Tesla had an uncanny knack of looking at things and just figuring them out. In fact, he once resolved an issue in a dream. Imagine knowing what he thinks of today’s advances and where we head. That is extremely interesting. To be honest, I don’t think he’d be bothered by the changes at all. From what I have learned of Tesla, he’d be thrilled. In addition, he’d be thrilled to have knew frontiers to explore again!
The theory of a simulation (or Hologram) universe would be of special interest to this man. I’d love to know his thoughts on that. Too bad I couldn’t get into a time machine (Doctor are you there?) and fetch him to this timeline. Then, I could ask him all my questions and find out more about his specific experiments. Hopefully, someday soon, I will be able to take up a friend’s offer to go visit a laboratory that Tesla worked in that is pretty near my home. That is a goal for post-COVID. I know it won’t answer the deep questions that I have, but it will bring me closer to a historical idol.

Tesla was brilliant, probably bipolar, definitely not very practical. But the world needs all kinds to make up the crazy quilt of human society and Tesla certainly deserves more due than he received in his life time.
I like the theory that the great minds like Tesla are actual aliens come here to push the human race along in its evolution.
He was definitely human. We are capable of so much, if only those who cower in fear would let us fly.
Tesla is a sci-fi writers dream, a library of ideas to set your pen moving. And who knows what other secrets he kept to himself?
He really is. between him and Verne, the possibilities that they wrote down and some of which came together to create technology for us!
I love this! Science fascinates me, and the times of Edison and Tesla is particularly interesting. It all fits the steampunk vibe I really like. Maybe versions of the pair will form a story for me.

Put Edgar Cayce in there with Tesla and forget the documentary stuff. You may have to dig deeper than B&N but it’s worth it. Tesla got it. And ll I can figure is that scared the hell out of some people.
Tesla and Cayce could have unwound reality together. I wish that they had happened!
