Welcome back for another installment of The Blue Honor Vlog. Subscribe to my channel on YouTube. As a subscriber, you’ll get episodes of Shagbottom Theater, updates from the blog, and watch the process of making book trailers. And! You’ll be first in line to see it all. Once a video is ready, it’s uploaded, and you don’t have to wait for it to come out on the blog or even in the newsletter. Let’s get started!
It’s February, and that means the month of love, so let’s take a minute to talk about giving back. It’s important to give back to those around you that you rely on for your writing, whether that is family, friends, or colleagues (both at a day job or in the writing world). This will help you to balance the good with the bad, and find those relationships right where they need to be when you need them most.
Giving back fosters a positive writing community, and puts writing at the fore. Helping others helps you. Your legacy won’t be lost in the dust of time, because when you give back you create long lasting effects. For instance, your wealth of knowledge won’t disappear with you, and you will have enriched the writing field by it.
Did you know that mentoring also teaches you? You’ll learn a lot about yourself when you mentor, and be able to quantify and qualify all you’ve learned and experienced in your time as a writer. That’s important to your professional growth, too!
