This is a really fun question. All I can picture is Holy Grail. Burn her! But, I hope that wouldn’t happen to me. I’m sure I’d be walking a tight rope. So long as you’re useful to someone with power, you are generally made untouchable regardless of what proclivities one has. Still, even the most powerful must one day fall.
Some of my skills are cooking, my ingenuity with materials I am given to make things, I can sew by hand (but it’s laborious and I am out of practice), jewelry design, drawing abilities, and quite a few other things. After all, I was a girlscout for several years and have a highly intuitive mind. The only difference might be that the era of the middle ages didn’t much care for ingenious women. Although I can cook, the ingredients would largely be foreign to me, considering so much has changed in farming and cultivation. The tastes of medieval people are also different from what we prefer today. Much of that was shaped by available resources. But, don’t mistake, they still ate things that tasted good to them.
Aside from not being certain how to dress a swan or how long to roast a pig, I’m not sure my art skills would be welcome or useful. Outside of the church, the examples are sparse. It simply wasn’t a role open to women. That said, we may be seeing an erasure of that history, instead of the reality. There are many examples of how women were subjugated during this time, so it is very likely stepping into the art world could lead to trouble. And, that would mean my writing as well. I’d need to hide behind a pseudonym, if not a male partner.
I’m just glad that I won’t be dropped into this time period any time soon. Not only being a woman counts as problematic then. Don’t get sick!
