Welcome back to another edition of the Open Book Blog Hop! If you’re new to the series, the authors included are grateful for your reads and appreciate, even more so, when you share our writings with your friends. If you’re new to the series, welcome aboard. The authors engage and impress weekly. Be prepared to become a regular reader.

If you’ve ever read a book, then I can tell you that whoever wrote that book leaked onto the page. Books do not have to be biographical to include elements from the writer’s life. It doesn’t matter how much an author struggles to keep life and book separate. When you write what you know, when you write at all, you’re going to put a piece of yourself into the work. There simply is no way around that.

Some readers might wonder, how did you include yourself in Blue Honor? After all, it does take place during the US Civil War. Emily borrows some of my physical attributes, and is a bit of a copy of my teenage self. If you look at the other characters, they are people I wish I knew in some capacity. For instance, Hettie is a woman I wish I knew, because I wish I could understand the struggle of black women as fully as possible. It’s a place where I have cited a need for growth in my life. You know, social issues are dear to me, and helping to see humanity grow. So the sexism and racism explored in the books, white privilege and classicism…these are things I address on a daily basis.

Surely OP-DEC: Operation Deceit has no correlation to my real life? You don’t really believe that, though, do you? I’m absolutely obsessed with the era of World War II. My studies focused on this period. I’m also attempting to learn German. That language has been of interest to me for a very long time, although I couldn’t explain why. I know that when I was a girl I thought it would have been cool to be able to speak the language and spy for my country (or be an analyst). Maybe that is really all that drives me to make the language learning a reality. Obviously, though, I won’t be working for the secret service in this lifetime. Still, it’s going to be very cool to be bilingual (at least).

Trailokya also has it’s similarities. Can you guess what they are? I’ll list a few for you, and try not to spoil the series while doing so. 1. Captain Maiel moves with a pack of wolves. I’m at home with dogs. In fact, canines are a must for me. 2. Maiel has red hair and blue eyes… 3. The moon is special to me, and it is symbol and much more for Maiel, too. 4. Imagery and story details come from dreams I’ve had since I was very young.

Of course, there is also the obvious link, as I’m a writer of Historical Fiction. That genre bleeds into the details of Trailokya, even though it’s a paranormal dark fantasy. For instance, events of the Hungarian Revolution are hinted at, but also visible in the settings.
