Sheol is the border land between the poisonous Domdaniel and the rest of Jahannam. Two of the provinces stand guard beyond the storm that separates Sheol from the rest of that world.
The expanse is like a dry, dusty beach. There are no features that stand out, except the Old Man of Crete that stands in the Domdaniel well off shore. The land does not grow vegetation, but there are remains of what may have once been things like trees and shrubs. These relics exist closer to the storm rather than the water. Likely, this is a sign that the only ocean in all of Jahannam destroyed the land.
The rivers Phlegethon, Styx, Acheron, and Lethe all flow through this dead land. Each of these rivers has it’s own story and toxicity. The prince ruling this strip, colloquially called The Grave, is Azrael. He is one of the most silent of rulers, not rearing his head whenever anyone crosses his boarder. It is said that he has the greatest of sight among his brethren. Thus, their presence on his lands does not raise suspicions in him, because he can already see their heart.
Sheol is also the point where the burned down are ferried by Kharon. From there, the soul or marditavya wanders, either hypnotized by the storm or they wander the stretches of beach until something feeds upon them or enslaves them.
