So far we’ve talked about the duta races of The Trailokya Trilogy, as well as humans and danava. Then, we moved onto the races with whom humanity shares their universe (Samsara). First up was the Cetians, the Ikyls and Oreiades, Boarwellum, Hyadeans, and then the Vetehinen. What interesting race do I have in store for you this time?

Aurai. A soul race, an avian race of semi-humanoids capable of flight. This race does not cooperate with the UWOS.
Errai. The home planet of the bipedal, avian race the Aurai.
The Aurai are an interesting race that remains outside of the United Watcher Orders of Samsara (UWOS), and unitiatied into the greater expanse of Samsara. The most interesting fact about them is that they have the ability to fly. This ability is not known to be limited to their planet’s physics. Aurai anatomy resembles that of large, bipedal birds. They are similar to avian species of earth, having light, hollow bones and air sacs throughout their body to help them fly. They bear feathers and beaks, along with talons. Their wings, however, are more specialized, having full limbs and digits, similar to those of humans.

Aurai are a historically warrior race reared on an intricate faith system. These systems once kept them at war, and have framed their exclusion from the UWOS. They were easily provoked to war over resource use and clearing up disagreements was exacerbated by a rigid set of communication rules of decorum. When a rule is broken, it often resulted in violent reprisal. Thus, the nations resisted being united for centuries, until at last forming an enclave to resolve the issues they experienced, driven by a desire to maintain the health of the planet. Like Earth, the nations have underlying factions with precarious ties and rationale.
Errai has multiple climates: Tropical, Mild, Humid Subtropical, a limited Marine system, Arid, Continental, Boreal, Tundra, and Polar. There is no expansive dessert, because the planet is heavily forested and boasting all fresh water. That said, the oceans are vast, but mostly underground. Fishing is still a rich business on Errai.

The Aurai both cultivate the land for much of their food. They’re omnivorous, and thus raise local animals and fish, as mentioned above. Aurai prefer building their homes in the trees, creating complex and ornate tree-house cities. Their culture and goods are not traded off planet. Aurai have declared their planet off limits from outsiders. Very few leave though their technology allows them space exploration and travel. This technology is mostly used for patrolling close to the planet.
Images of Aurai like beings can be found throughout Samsara, despite their reclusive nature. It is not contrary to their personalities to enjoy power, and thus arriving to another planet, by whatever means, often less developed than their own, they took advantage of the mantle of a god. They were not not necessarily belligerent toward the hosting race. Thus, they may be responsible for the appearance of Horus and Thoth in Egypt, Huitzilopochtli in South America, Garudh of Nepal, and the Tengu of Japan, on Earth.
