If someone gave you a free plane ticket to anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Oh, jeez! I was just waking up from a nice night’s sleep when I saw this on my social media app notifications. I thought for a fleeting moment that I would know right off where I wanted to go. There are so many places I’d like to travel, but surely there is one that stands above the rest. Considering the last trip that I have been on was back in 2000, my desire to travel has become inflamed.
In 2000, I was able to go to Ireland and later in the year, to Disney, because I had zero bills but my low insurance costs and a low student loan (because I worked through my summers to pay for tuition). I made payments on the trips during the previous year, and it cost me a total of $4k. It wasn’t all that costly. Today’s rates are at least $4k per trip to either of those places, if not more. My expenses are much greater now, and my income hasn’t kept up with it all.
If someone offered me a ticket to somewhere, I’d be most likely to believe it was a scam. If they convinced me it was valid, I’d be reluctant to accept, then believing there were strings. If strings were no issue, the guilt of accepting a gift of this kind would make me enjoy the trip much less. I’m just built that way. I believe you work for everything, and free things are almost always cons or mooching. Where that came from, I have no idea. I do know that I have paid for the things I want since I was 16 and had my first job.
Placing that emotional baggage aside, so I can answer the question…
Disney is a likely answer. It’s been a really long time, but Disney is also very expensive, well beyond the airfare–hotel and tickets. So, that leaves me with some world travel to undertake: China, Europe, Australia. I think this is most likely. I’ve been wanting to take a trip for several years to shoot the south of France, Provence area. I have a friend in Germany I’d like to see, a friend in the UK and someone in France. So, going to France would be excellent, because it would give me access to this group of friends. I’d likely choose somewhere north east of Paris to make my landing, so I am more central to my intentions.

For such a trip, I’d just need a suitcase with some clothes, my camera and supplies, and a little bit of money to get around. This makes the most sense to me, so that something that should be a wonderful gift doesn’t become a financial burden.
Let’s hop on over to see where the other authors would go…
How easy it is to forget the getting there is only half the cost!
We have friends who live in the South of France, and it’s a beautiful area. I’ve also been to Ireland, but not to Disneyworld.
That sounds like a wonderful trip and visiting with friends would be healing in so many ways.
…somewhere northeast of Paris… sounds pleasant!
