Last month I reviewed the duta races of The Trailokya Trilogy in one post. The Soul races won’t be so easy to do, unless you want to read a really long piece on them. In fact, I am going to stick only to the most evolved of the extensive group. Of course, I won’t do that to you in one sitting, as I want you to come back. (Don’t forget to subscribe over there on the right, and get the week’s posts to your inbox on Friday afternoon). There are over ten races in all.
The first in the list of souls I’ll review for you are the humans. I chose to look at our own race for a very simple reason, to get us out of the way. What can be said about humans that is interesting and hasn’t been gone over in spades in tons of books and journals for centuries? In the context of the trilogy, we humans are a little more magical than what we are in reality.
The human race is not the only race that will eventually inherit duta status. They are viewed by other races as unfairly favored, perhaps less evolved. Racism, as I mentioned in the article on duta, manifests itself in familiar and different ways in the books. Instead of despising skin tones and cultural foundations defined by invisible borders, the races in the books take very racial-centric views on the worlds that inhabit. The duta believe they are superior, and the souls of each race whom they watch over feel the same about themselves. No, that isn’t to say that all people in the books think this way. It works very much like our reality, where some are blatant, some oblivious, some benignly entitled, and others quite aware and either overcompensating or doing their best to offset privilege. And, then there are all the gray areas in between.
Humanity appears exactly the same as they appear in reality within the bindings of the trilogy. Those appearances are explained via one of the most interesting pieces of technology in the books: the bio interface machine. The BIM allows souls to inhabit the physical plane of Samsara. It is self powered, through the ingestion of chemical compositions that can be broken down into their basic components and converted to energy and supplies (it eats food and drinks water). They are also self-replicating (through sexual reproduction). BIM can be directly or indirectly interfaced by the soul inhabiting it, via wireless connections with the atman or insertion of the atman.
Why hasn’t an atman ever been seen inside of a BIM, say during surgery? Just like you should have read about Maiel in the first book, they are cloaked from BIM perception.
Humans are one of several species who resemble the duta in the appearance of their bodies (both the BIM and the true body expression of the Atman), and are the most close in resemblance, only having the absence of wings and a slighter build. Some humans do grow to be as large as duta but it is not the norm. It can be an indication of soul age and evolutionary station.
According to the UWOS (United Watcher Orders of Samsara), humans are currently the most dangerous of the higher evolved species in the universe. They pose a threat to all other life forms. That threat comes in their warlike tendencies, competitiveness, non-compliance, awareness, and having drawn the interest of Jahannam. This status with the UWOS, a group I will discuss in later posts that you can think of like the United Nations, is reassessed annually by the groups highest council. That council determines what species will be brought into the UWOS and who will be considered hostile and therefore exiled until a reassessment determines there is no longer a threat. In other words, this is why humans have not yet met aliens. Should a race become too dangerous, the council can vote to euthanize them and the destruction of the planet they inhabit will be undertaken. Unfortunately, this condemns any other species inhabiting that same world to death along with them. It is a decision not taken lightly.
Are there humans on other worlds? There are. How they got there is a story for later down the road.
The prince, which I assume is Jesus of Nazareth, is mentioned in the books as a human who evolved into a duta. How did that work? The prince, it is inferred he is Jesus, was a human. What is not discussed is how evolved he had been prior to taking on that incarnation, nor is their discussion on the reason behind that incarnation. Trailokya isn’t a religious series, even though the presence of theological premises wind through the text. He is simply mentioned to defend Dominic, both as a species and his bid to become duta.
Make sure to return to the blog to find out more about the trilogy and the soul races. If you have questions about humanity’s role in the books, go ahead and drop them below and I will try to answer them.
