October is my favorite month. It is filled with family birthdays, warm memories of celebrating Halloween, the changing of the season, even a trip to Disney that still ranks as one of the best yet. The leaves have finally turned to the brilliant golds and reds, and they drop their leaves creating a lot of work for homeowner–but a lot of fun for kids.
Halloween has been a beloved tradition in my Celtic household. I learned my traditions from my mother, as well as my love of scary movies. I’ve already been well underway on my annual scary-movie-thon. I used to grab all the horror in my collection and attempt to watch them from the end of September until the end of October. It’s gotten almost impossible, mostly because of how busy I am writing. The good news is, there are new movies each year to watch. My favorites? Insidious, Disney’s Halloween special, A Nightmare Before Christmas (which goes for both holidays), Hellraiser, Exorcist, Dracula (Christopher Lee and Bella Lugosi) and the Universal Classics. I probably forgot something important.
