In my travels I’ve come across more than my share of people who moan on about how we’re living in a post racial society, and that minorities need to get over it and get on with things. Tone deaf. It really is. But! There is something we can do about that. We can chose to learn more. There are clear and powerful lessons about privilege that we can share to make a difference.
The link below discusses a lesson from a teacher who wanted his class to understand the idea of privilege better. It mostly focuses on the perspective of social placement, which is often only considered an economic placement. Social placement is determined by gender, racial makeup and economic status.
